Women's History Month No. 18

"Do not allow the Church or State to govern your thought or dictate your judgment."

"There is a word sweeter than Mother, Home, or Heaven; that word is Liberty."

Matilda Electa Joslyn Gage, March 24, 1826 ~ March 18, 1898, meaning today's the anniversary of her deathday.

Can't you just tell by looking at this picture what a formidable woman she was? If it helps, dear Modern Reader, picture Ms. Gage here with her hair cut & blown dry, in a tailored jacket, silk tee shirt, black slacks, cool shoes, & a bit o' mascara. No corset.
As sharp as a barrel of tacks was this abolitionist, woman suffrage activist, and independent thinker.
